One Point for Immigration

Everyone's worried about immigrants these days. We live on an island so it's easy to keep people out, but controls could still be better. One way of making it easier to keep an eye on who's coming in to the country would be to a have a single point for all immigration - say the Isle of Wight.

Wouldn't it be useful to have all potential immigrants to the UK disembarking on the Isle of Wight? There would be no concerns about them getting away in to the rest of the country, and if we didn't want them to stay it would be a lot easier to send them back if they were all in one place.

Now the residents of the Isle of Wight might have a few concerns, but it wouldn't be too difficult to find them homes elsewhere. I'm sure most of them would be relieved to live some place you couldn't accidentally drive in to the sea, and if they still really wanted to stay on an island they could be sent to the Isle of Man - they probably wouldn't even notice the difference after a few days.
