When I get up in morning I put the radio on. On the way to work I listen to podcasts or music. When I get home it's more of the same. I use music and the radio in the same way a lot of people from my generation use the TV – as background noise.

I've always loved music, and unlike the books I read I've got a broad listening range. From dance to classical, through rap to pop, my collection is not the biggest in the world but it is varied.

The area of my musical tastes that bothers people the most is my liking for pop music. What's wrong with the latest teen band of a bit of pop rock? Well maybe a lot, but if they are accepted for what they are – light-hearted, cheesy groups that are there to make people happy – is there anything wrong with listening to them? As with life, not all music should be taken seriously.
